Yadav vs Yadav: Akhilesh calls meeting of MLAs, MLCs today
Lucknow [India], Oct. 23 (ANI): Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has called a meeting of MLAs and MLCs at his residence today, however, legislators considered too close to state party chief Shivpal Yadav have not been invited for the de-facto legislature party meeting. According to reports, today's meeting is to be watched as it could witness Akhilesh Yadav spelling out his future course of action in the turf war which has erupted between him and his father Mulayam Singh Yadav and his uncle Shivpal Singh Yadav. This pre-emptive strike by the Akhilesh camp comes just 24 hours ahead of a similar meet called on Monday by his father and Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav in Lucknow. With both sides digging in their heels, attempts of reconciliation by the old guard have not yet borne any results. However, the Shivpal camp alleged that no official meeting of the MLAs and MLCs has been called by the party on Sunday. Whereas the political pundits see it as a show of strength in the ruling party which clearly seems heading towards a split. (ANI)

"Assassination attempt foiled": Omar Abdullah on attack on father

"Allah is kind. My father had a very close shave. The details are sketchy at the moment but what is known is that a man with a loaded pistol was asked to get within range to discharge shot. It was only the close protection team that deflected the shot & ensured that the assassination attempt was foiled. There are more questions than answers at the moment including but not limited to how someone was able to get this close to a Z+ NSG protected former CM," Omar Abdullah posted on X.
