New Delhi [India], Mar 10 (ANI): Robert Vadra, the brother-in-law of Congress president Rahul Gandhi, on Sunday said that he would like to "serve people on a bigger platform", but only after he gets a clean chit in the ongoing money laundering cases against him.
"I surely have been serving and helping people in need for years, and would like to serve people on a bigger platform, but only once all false accusations & allegations levied on me are cleared (sic)," Vadra wrote on Facebook, in an apparent reference to his entry into politics.
Vadra further stated that he is "overwhelmed at the love of people" from different cities who want him to contest elections.
The statement from Vadra came after several posters were put up in Moradabad that read: "Robert Vadra ji Moradabad Lok Sabha se chunav ladne ke liye aapka swagat hain (RoberT Vadra ji, you are welcome to contest Lok Sabha elections from Moradabad)."
On February 28, Vadra had indicated his interest to join active politics. He had also hinted that if and when he chooses to contest he might do it from Moradabad.
"I was born in Moradabad and have spent childhood in Uttar Pradesh and I think I understand that area. However, I can stay anywhere and I believe I will be able to understand them."
A Delhi court last week extended his interim bail till March 19, in connection with a money laundering case.
The Patiala House court also adjourned the hearing of anticipatory bail to Manoj Arora, a close aide of Robert Vadra.
The next hearing of the case will be on March 19, the court said. (ANI)
