New Delhi, July 15 (ANI): Doordarshan, the public broadcaster of India will cover the first edition of India Skills competition live on DD National, DD Urdu and DD India today from 6 p m to 7.30 p m or till the end. The competition has been organised to commemorate Ministry of Skill Development's first anniversary on July 15, 2016. President Pranab Mukherjee will be inaugurating the first edition of "India Skills Competition" on the occasion of World Youth Skill Day. National Skill Development Mission was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 15, 2015; to create convergence across sectors and states in terms of skill training activities. The ministry is responsible for co-ordination of all skill development efforts across the country, removal of disconnect between demand and supply of skilled manpower, building the vocational and technical training framework, skill up-gradation, building of new skills, and innovative thinking not only for existing jobs but also jobs that are to be created. The ministry aims to skill on a large scale with Speed and high standards in order to achieve its vision of a 'Skilled India'. The main competition will be held at the Pragati Maidan on July 16 and 17 from 10 a m to 5 p m. (ANI)
