"Working under PM's guidance is a big achievement," says Sukanta Majumdar after being appointed as MoS

After being appointed as MoS in the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Development of the North Eastern Region, BJP leader Sukanta Majumdar on Monday asserted that working under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is itself one of the biggest achievements and that he will work to carry forward the vision and mission of PM Modi.

New Delhi [India], June 11 (ANI): After being appointed as MoS in the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Development of the North Eastern Region, BJP leader Sukanta Majumdar on Monday asserted that working under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is itself one of the biggest achievements and that he will work to carry forward the vision and mission of PM Modi.
While speaking to ANI, Sukanta Majumdar said, "Working under the guidance of PM Modi is one of the biggest achievements... It is a matter of great honour for me that such a big responsibility has been given to an ordinary party worker like me."
The newly appointed minister also talked about carrying forward the vision of the PM. "We will work to take forward PM Modi's mission and vision. He is a very visionary person and there can be no one like him."
Majumdar also asserted that the BJP-led NDA government has paid special attention to the North-East region and said, "Our government has given special attention to the North-East region and nobody before has done that. So many ministers have gone to the northeast and maybe this time, I will also have to go as a Union Minister."
Notably, Majumdar, the party's state president from West Bengal, defeated Trinamool's Biplab Mitra from Balurghat by a margin of 10,386 votes in the 18th Lok Sabha elections.
The list of portfolios allotted to different ministers in Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government was announced on Monday.
BJP retained several key ministries, however, its allies also bagged some important ministries.
Telugu Desam Party leader Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu has been made the Minister of Civil Aviation, which BJP leader Jyotiraditya Scindia had earlier held. Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan, has been appointed as the Minister of Food Processing Industries.
Janata Dal (Secular) leader HD Kumaraswamy, has been entrusted with the responsibility of the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, and the Ministry of Steel.
Hindustani Awam Morcha leader Jitan Ram has been given the Ministery of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
Janata Dal (United) leader Rajiv Ranjan Singh, popularly known as Lalan Singh, has been assigned the roles of Minister of Panchayati Raj, Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying.
In addition to these, Jayant Singh Chaudhary from Rashtriya Lok Dal has been given the Independent Charge of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and he is also the Minister of State in the Ministry of Education.
Anupriya Patel from Apna Dal (S) is the Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare and Chemicals and Fertilizers. Ramdas Athawale from the Republican Party of India has been appointed as the Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment.
TDP leader Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar has been appointed as the Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications. Lastly, Ram Nath Thakur from Janata Dal (United) has been appointed as the Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
The Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA secured 293 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. BJP won 240 seats on its own. In the 543-strong lower house of the Indian parliament, 272 is the minimum majority figure.
The Congress, on the other hand, won 99 seats. The INDIA bloc crossed the 230 mark. (ANI)
