Woman delivers quadruplets in Gaya through natural process
Gaya (Bihar) [India], Nov.6 (ANI): A woman has given birth to quadruplets through a normal delivery process in Gaya, Bihar. Poonam Kumari was admitted to a private hospital after she developed labour pains on Friday night. She gave birth to three boys and a girl through the natural delivery process, unlike many couples who nowadays undergo In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) and Embryo Transfer processes to deliver twins. The Gaya quadruplets were born in a space of less than two hours and are doing fine. "This is the first time that a woman admitted here has given birth to four babies together. Even though we have had the birth of three babies together, but this is the first time that such a thing has happened here. It is a very good feeling," said Dr. Amita Sinha of the Abhineet Nursing Homes. The weight of each of the babies ranged between 1 and 1.2 kilograms, which is less than the normal. Crowds gathered outside the hospital after hearing news of the birth of the quadruplets. Kumari was surprised as earlier reports had suggested two babies. "I was checked by the doctor and the ultrasound showed that there were two babies, but I gave birth to four babies on coming to the hospital," said Kumari. The infants are under observation at a nearby child specialist hospital.(ANI)
