Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], December 12 (ANI): Prem Chand Bairwa, who has been named as Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister, on Tuesday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that he will work for the upliftment of Dalits and all other sections of the society.
Rajasthan Dy CM Dr Prem Chand Bairwa in Jaipur said, "It can happen only in BJP where an ordinary party worker is given such a responsibility. I will work for the upliftment of Dalits and all other sections of society."
Rajasthan BJP chief CP Joshi said, "Today, an ordinary party worker has been given an opportunity to lead the state...It is a matter of happiness for us that two people from our team - Bhajanlal ji and Diya Kumari ji have been given important responsibilities. The oath-ceremony will take place before 'Malmaas'."
Prem Chand Bairwa is the sitting BJP MLA from the Dudu constituency in Rajasthan.
The 54-year-old MLA from the Dudu Vidhan Sabha constituency Birwa defeated Congress candidate Babulal Nagar with a substantial margin of 35,743 votes in the 2023 assembly polls.
Earlier in the 2018 elections, Bairwa faced defeat and he lost the seat to Babu Lala Nagar by a margin of 14,779 votes.
Bhajan Lal Sharma's name as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan was announced by BJP's Vasundhara Raje, whose name was also among the contenders for the top post.
Rajasthan CM-designate Bhajanlal Sharma visited Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Bharti Bhawan in Jaipur and said, "I thank BJP party workers who worked hard for this. I thank the public for taking a decision due to which Rajasthan will get double-engine government."
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said, "I wish all the best to those who have been selected for Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and other responsibilities in the three states. They will help their state in taking Prime Minister Modi's Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat vision forward."
In Rajasthan, the vote count painted a starkly different picture from what some of the pollsters had predicted, with the BJP poised to form the government, winning 115 seats, and the Congress trailing at 69 seats.
Rajasthan went to the polls for 199 of the 200 assembly seats on November 25. The majority mark in the state is 100.(ANI)
