Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], June 13 (ANI): BJP MP from Bengaluru South, Tejasvi Surya on Thursday expressed gratitude to the people for re-electing him and pledged to work towards improving the lives of Bengalurians.
Bharatiya Janata Party's Tejasvi Surya won from the Bangalore South Parliamentary Constituency in the recently concluded Lok Sabha election. He secured 7,50,830 votes, and defeated Congress candidate Sowmya Reddy by a margin of 2,77,083 votes.
"With the blessings of the people of Bengaluru South, we have got a second consecutive term to serve the people of the constituency. We are opening the MP office again today, which for the last 5 years was the centre which served the people relentlessly... This is the office which the people have always called on, in times of need and crisis," he told ANI.
"We will continue to work with even more dedication and sincerity... We will make sure that we will double down on the work we have done in the last 5 years... We will work on the completion of metro lines and other important projects... We will strive to make the life of Bengalurians more fruitful and happy," he added.
In the 2024 Lok Sabha election, the BJP won 17 seats, the Congress won 9, and the Janata Dal (Secular) won 2 seats.
This time, the BJP and JD-S allied to contest the Lok Sabha election in Karnataka, with the former fighting on 25 seats, while the latter is contesting on three seats.

In the 2019 elections, the BJP almost swept the state by winning 25 out of 28 seats. Congress and JD-S -- who were in coalition in the state government -- could only win one seat each. (ANI)
