Farrukhabad (Uttar Pradesh) [India], Apr 24 (ANI): Senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid lashed out at his opponents stating that anyone who comes in the way of his fight with Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be "smashed to bits."
Khurshid, who is Congress' candidate from Farrukhabad, is up against SP-BSP-RLD candidate Manoj Agarwal and BJP's Mukesh Rajput in the ongoing polls.
However, speaking at a rally here, he chose to direct his ire at PM Modi even as he issued a threat to anyone who would come in the way of his fight with the Prime Minister. "Main ailan karta hun ki Modi se meri ladai mein jo mere saamne aayega aur mujhe rokne ki koshish karega, woh gathbandhan ka naam le ya haathi ka naam le, main usko vaar karke chur-chur kar dunga (I am announcing here, anyone who comes in the way of my fight with Modi, whether they are from the mahagathbandhan or BSP (elephant symbol) will be smashed to bits)," said Khurshid.
Furthermore, he requested Congress president Rahul Gandhi to help the Supreme Court, Election Commission, Indian Armed Forces and the Indian media attain "independence" from the Narendra Modi government.
"Modi thinks that the Indian Armed Forces, Election Commission, Supreme Court, and Indian media are owned by him. I request Rahul Gandhi to help them gain independence from the Modi government. Our party can sacrifice anything to help them attain independence,” he claimed.
Khurshid also hit out at the incumbent government for calling whosoever revolts against them, unpatriotic. “First you stab us and when we revolt against you in pain, you call us ‘unpatriotic’,” he said.
Uttar Pradesh, where 80 Lok Sabha seats are at stake, is undergoing polls during all seven phases. So far, elections have been held for 26 Lok Sabha seats in the state.
Farrukhabad parliamentary constituency will go to polls in the fourth phase - on April 29.  The counting of votes will take place on May 23. (ANI)
