Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], July 28 (ANI): After being appointed as the Leader of Opposition in the Uttar Pradesh assembly, Mata Prasad Dubey on Sunday said that he will try to raise the issues of people that have been neglected by the Yogi government, including electricity, governance, and law and order.
Addressing media persons after being appointed, Samajwadi Party leader Mata Prasad Pandey said, "I will try my best to raise the issues of the deprived people who have been neglected by this government in the Vidhan Sabha. We will raise all issues, whether it is in the matter of electricity, law and order, or governance. It is a 5-day session. Now we have requested that the session be extended for another 5 days. Now the government decides how many days it will be. We will try to continue it further so that all the problems can be discussed."
Samajwadi Party supremo Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday appointed party leader Mata Prasad Pandey as the Leader of the Opposition in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly.
This decision was taken following a meeting with party MLAs on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party MLA Atul Pradhan cited the party's large mandate in the recent general election and claimed that a government led by Akhilesh Yadav will soon be formed in Uttar Pradesh.
Samajwadi Party MLA Atul Pradhan said, "The government that is in power at this time seems as if there is no government in Uttar Pradesh, everyone is working as per their own will... People are realizing that the coming time belongs to the Samajwadi Party and the officials must also be thinking that people have given such a big majority, such a big mandate, so in the coming time Samajwadi Party government will be formed in Uttar Pradesh under the leadership of Akhilesh Yadav..."
Notably, The SP bagged 37 seats alone, thereby emerging as the single largest party in Uttar Pradesh Lok Sabha polls. SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav and leader Dimple Yadav won from Kannauj and Mainpuri respectively, with huge margins.
The vote share of the party stood at 33.59 percent.
The BJP, on the other hand, managed to secure 33 seats, much lower than its 2019 tally. Some of the prominent seats that it lost include-- Faizabad, Amethi, and Raebareli. (ANI)
