Panaji (Goa) [India], March 16 (ANI): Claiming that Congress is the single largest party, the leader of the Congress-led opposition in Goa Chandrakant Kavlekar on Saturday said that the Governor should give them a chance to prove majority on the floor of the house.
Speaking to ANI after staking claim to form the government in Goa, he said, " I have sent the letter to the governor for dismissing the present government and to give us a chance as a single largest party. This is for the fifth time we are demanding this. We were the single largest party even before."
"In past we have seen that when they are losing power they go to any extent. As a single largest party we should be given chance and we would prove our majority on the floor," he added.
He also alleged that the government in Goa is almost non-existent.
"The Chief Minister doesn't meet his MLA's or ministers. Who would solve Goa's problems", he said.
Meanwhile, following his first letter, Kavlekar has written another letter to the Governor, requesting for an urgent appointment.
Earlier in the day, he had written to Governor to dismiss BJP-led governor which is in "minority" and call "single-largest party Congress to form a government".
He had also stated in its letter that, "any attempt to bring Goa under President's rule will be illegal and will be challenged".
In another related development, Goa BJP has also called for a meeting of its MLAs in Panaji office on Saturday. (ANI)
