New Delhi [India], September 4 (ANI): Union Minister and former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal expressed confidence in the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) victory in the upcoming state assembly elections, stating that the party will form a majority government in Haryana for the third time.
"We will fight the elections well and form the Bharatiya Janata Party government in Haryana for the third time. Our government is going to be formed with a majority in Haryana," he said.
The BJP released its first list of 67 candidates for the Haryana assembly elections earlier today, following several rounds of meetings. Notable candidates include: Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will contest from the Ladwa constituency.Other prominent leaders included in the first list are Gian Chand Gupta, former state home minister Anil Vij, Kanwar Pal Gurjar, Sunita Duggal, Bhavya Bishnoi, and Tejpal Tanwar. Gian Chand Gupta will contest from Panchkula, Anil Vij from Ambala Cantt, Kanwar Pal Gurjar from Jagadhri, Sunita Duggal from Ratia, Bhavya Bishnoi from Adampur, and Tejpal Tanwar from Sohna.
Former jailer Sunil Sangwan, who recently joined the BJP, has been given a ticket from Dadri. Manohar Lal stated that the remaining seats will be cleared soon, and the list will be released in a few days.
"A list of 67 candidates has been issued today. CM Nayab Singh Saini will contest from Ladwa. Seats have been allocated to almost all senior candidates. I think nominations will begin tomorrow and will continue till 12th September. The remaining seats will be cleared too and the list will be released in a few days," he said.
Speaking on Congress, he said, "Congress's weakness reflects through this. Until yesterday, neither AAP nor Congress were ready for an alliance with each other. We can see the strength of those who were saying that they would contest on their own, they are now forging an alliance with 2 parties. The character of their alliance will come to light...There will definitely be chaos there and their victory is not certain. There will be infighting and BJP will benefit."
The voting for the 90-member legislative assembly in Haryana will be held on October 5, with the last date for filing nominations being September 12. The counting of votes will take place on October 8.
On August 31, the Election Commission of India (ECI) revised the polling date for the Haryana Assembly elections from October 1 to October 5, and moved the counting of votes for both the Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana assemblies from October 4 to October 8. (ANI)
