Will contest polls from Amma's constituency, says niece

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], Feb. 24 (ANI): Late Tamil Nadu chief minister J. Jayalalithaa's niece Deepa Jayakumar on Friday said she would surely contest elections from the former's constituency, R.K. Nagar, in the next elections.

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], Feb. 24 (ANI): Late Tamil Nadu chief minister J. Jayalalithaa's niece Deepa Jayakumar on Friday said she would surely contest elections from the former's constituency, R.K. Nagar, in the next elections. "People are continuously expressing interest ,that I should contest from there I am definitely going to take that call and contest from R.K. Nagar," Deepa told ANI. Deepa further expressed hope to fulfill all aspirations that has been put forward to her by the people of Tamil Nadu. "It is certainly not good for the people because this kind of take over, this kind of hijacking of the party is absolutely not acceptable to anyone, specially the cadre of the AIADMK, because their wishes are being totally ignored and also it was a forcible takeover," Deepa said while referring to the appointment of E. Palaniswamy as chief minister and general secretary of the AIADMK. Earlier in the day, Palaniswami said there is no mystery behind Jayalalithaa's death, adding that vested interests were making an issue out of it for political gain. "There is no mystery over Jayalalithaa's death, people are just making an issue out of it," Palaniswami told media here. The chief minister further said that the ruckus that took place on February 18 in the state assembly is a matter that is sub-judice. "The Tamil Nadu Assembly ruckus is sub judice matter and everything will be done according to the law," he added. Meanwhile, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) leader and former Tamil Nadu chief minister O. Panneerselvam has called for a probe into Jayalalithaa's death. "When I was the chief minister of the state, I initiated an enquiry into Jayalalithaa's death, but everything went upside down. The state and central government should enquire into the death of Jayalalithaa," Panneerselvam said, adding, that they would continue to wage a war till answers onAmma's death are given. (ANI)
