Latur (Maharashtra) [India], October 29 (ANI): BJP candidate from Latur seat Archana Patil Chakurkar has exuded confidence about her victory in the Maharashtra assembly polls slated to take place on October 20.
Archana Patil Chakurkar, daughter-in-law of former Lok Sabha Speaker and Congress leader Shivraj Patil, is pitted against Congress MLA Amit Deshmukh, son of former Chief Minister late Vilasrao Deshmukh.
Speaking to with ANI on Tuesday, Archana Patil Chakurkar said she will work to address problems of people.
"I have absolute confidence in our victory. As you can see, my colleagues are overjoyed. I truly believe in our success. The party I am representing is not only the largest in India, but also the biggest democratic party in the world. I am grateful for the opportunity I've received from this party, which strengthens my faith in our victory," she said.
The BJP candidate stated that people need a leader who is accessible and available to solve their problems. "Latur has water problem. Earlier, many promises were made, but these were not fulfilled. I had visited Indore. They have the best model of cleanliness around the city. It has been running for seven years. I will try to follow their model to resolve the garbage issue."
Latur is considered a Congress stronghold. The party has fielded the Deshmukh brothers, Dhiraj and Amit, to contest from Latur Rural and Latur City, respectively.
Maharashtra Assembly elections are scheduled for November 20 with counting for all 288 constituencies set for November 23.
Opposition MVA, comprising of Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and the Nationalist Congress Party (SCP), is seeking to oust the ruling Mahayuti alliance, which consists Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Ajit Pawar-led NCP. (ANI)
