New Delhi [India], June 25 (ANI): Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) leader and newly elected Member of Parliament Chandra Shekhar Azad asserted that he will be the voice of 'poor' and 'suppressed'.
He reiterated that he is the voice of those who were not even considered humans.
In an interview with ANI, the newly elected MP said, "I will always be the voice of poor and suppressed in a neutral manner. I am the voice of those who were not even considered humans and who are suppressed in financial and societal manner. I assure that as long as I am in Parliament, I will raise my voice for the people. Each and every body will be questioned, whether it be state or central government. Those who work against the Constitution and people will be questioned..."
"It is clear that I have to work for the people who have elected me. I will fulfil my duties irrespective of any section of society, whether it is women, youth, children or seniors," he further added.
Taking it further, Azad on behalf of his party, said, "We (party) had already written a letter to the former speaker of Lok Sabha to take suo-motto cognizance regarding the removal of Babasaheb Ambedkar statue. Also, we will monitor the formation of laws in the parliament, and if there is any discrepancy, then we will raise our voice against it to get it improved."
Iterating his agenda of bringing a 'private bill', Azad asserted, "We (Azad Samaj Party) will also want that the government bring a new 'private bill' to discuss the issues of the public as we don't get enough time in the parliament session to debate. We will also pledge to the Lok Sabha speaker to increase the timings of session so that we can discuss more issues with the public."
Adding to it, the ASP MP mentioned, "Parliament is not only for ruling party, rather, it is for opposition too and for MPs like me. The government will have to think about developing my constituency too, including improving the conditions of electricity, water, roads and much more of the area. We will ask Lok Sabha speaker to give more time to discuss the issue of women's employment too."
Responding to his opposition's claim that Azad's politics is caste-based, Azad responded, "I work on the constitutional values and I'm not bound by caste politics."
The first session of 18th Lok Sabha commenced on Monday morning with the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected members of the lower house. The session will conclude on July 3.
Chandra Shekhar Azad is currently serving as the only Member of Parliament from his party (Azad Samaj Party), after he won the Lok Sabha elections from the Nagina seat of Uttar Pradesh in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections 2024. (ANI)
