"Why don't you talk about Manipur"? Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury targets BJP President JP Nadda

Murshidabad (West Bengal) [India], January 11 (ANI): West Bengal Congress President Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Thursday targeted BJP National President JP Nadda for his silence over the Manipur violence.
Hitting out at Nadda, the Congress leader said that Itanagar, where the BJP President was present today, is near Manipur. Why doesn't he talk about Manipur there?
"Why don't you talk about Manipur? Why are you quiet? Being the president of your party, you should say something about Manipur violence," Chowdhury said at a press conference in West Bengal's Murshidabad.
The violence involving the Kuki and Meitei communities erupted after a rally by the All Tribal Students Union of Manipur (ATSUM) on May 3, 2023.
The West Bengal Congress President took a jibe at Nadda and said that without taking the name of Congress, they cannot sleep.
This comes after JP Nadda, while addressing a gathering in Itanagar, hit out at Congress on Thursday and said that Congress means 'divide and rule' and has never thought beyond politics and votes.
"Congress has always played politics with voters. They have never thought beyond politics and votes. Congress means 'divide and rule'. They do 'Rajneeti', whereas, under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, we do 'Rashtraneeti'. Our slogans are 'Sabka Saath', 'Sabka Vikas', 'Sabka Vishwas' and 'Sabka Prayas'. We don't care who belongs to which caste or religion. We will take everyone together," he added.
Reacting to this, Chowdhury said, "Without taking the name of Congress, they are unable to sleep and digest food. If Congress would not have been there, then India may not have gained democracy. Because of this democracy, today Nadda and PM Modi speak whatever they want to".
Meanwhile, Chowdhury has dubbed Directorate Enforcement (ED) an 'idiot' over the agency's summons to National Conference President Farooq Abdullah.
The West Bengal Congress President alleged that the ED was being run under the command of the central government.
"Whom the ED will summon and whom not is the ED's own matter. We just know that our ED is an 'idiot' and it only runs on the directions of the (central) government. This is nothing but a conspiracy against Farooq Abdullah, who is a renowned politician," said Chowdhury.
The Enforcement Directorate summoned Farooq Abdullah for questioning on Thursday in connection with an alleged money laundering case. The former J-K Chief Minister has been asked to depose at the federal agency's office in Srinagar on Thursday.
As per sources, Abdullah has been summoned as part of the ED's investigation into the alleged fund scam in the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association. Earlier in July 2022, ED filed a supplementary chargesheet against Abdullah in the case.
The case relates to the siphoning-off of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) funds by way of transfer to various personal bank accounts of unrelated parties, including those of JKCA office bearers, and by way of unexplained cash withdrawals from JKCA bank accounts. (ANI)
