"Why do such work that you get abuses?" CM Chouhan asks Kamal Nath on remark of giving power of attorney to face abuses

CM Chouhan said, "Now I want to ask Kamal Nath, why do you do such work that you have to face abuses? If you have to face abuse, then don't face it yourself and give power of attorney to someone else to face it."

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], October 18 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has taken a dig at former CM Kamal Nath over his remark of giving power of attorney to Congress leader Digvijaya Singh to face abuses for him saying why do you (Nath) do such work that you face abuses.
CM Chouhan made the remark while talking to reporters in the state capital Bhopal on Wednesday.
"Work is divided in the Congress party. Power of attorney to face abuse has also been given, Kamal Nath himself has revealed that he has given power of attorney to Digvijay Singh to face abuses, which is still valid," CM Chouhan said.
He further said, "Now I want to ask Kamal Nath, why do you do such work that you have to face abuses? If you have to face abuse, then you don't face it yourself and give power of attorney to someone else."
Similarly, he (Nath) had also given the power of attorney to run the government to Digvijaya Singh only (referring to 15-month rule after 2018 assembly polls). Earlier also, during Digvijaya Singh's rule before 2003 there was Bantadhar (referring to spoiling future of Madhya Pradesh) and later also the same thing happened (during 15-month rule). When Digvijay Singh ran the government, Madhya Pradesh also suffered misfortune, the public knows that, Chouhan said.
"Congress is strange and its leaders. They also give power of attorney to face abuses," he added.
Notably, a video showing a banter over ticket distribution between Kamal Nath and Digvijaya Singh during the Manifesto release function in Bhopal has triggered a flurry of reactions. The opposition camp has latched on to the video claiming it showed deep dissent within the Congress.
In the video, Kamal Nath was heard saying that when he spoke about "tearing Digvijaya Singh's clothes for not fulfilling promises", he was replying to those who had dissented on ticket distribution.
Digvijaya Singh who was present on the stage intervened and said the party's documents are signed by the state Congress chief. "Then whose clothes should be torn?" he asked as party leaders laughed.
Meanwhile, while responding to Singh, Kamal Nath said that his relationship with Digvijaya is not political. "It is a relationship of jokes and laughs, of love. Long back, I had given him a power of attorney that he would face verbal abuses for me. That power of attorney is still valid," he added.
To which Singh responded, "But people should know who is making mistakes".
"Whether it is your mistake or not, you will face abuses," Nath said, amid cheers and claps from other leaders.
The state Congress chief reiterated that he and Digvijaya Singh go back a long way. "As I said, it is not a political relationship. It is a family relationship."
Madhya Pradesh is scheduled to undergo assembly polls on November 17. The election would be conducted in one phase in the state and the counting would be done on December 3. (ANI)
