Raebareli (Uttar Pradesh) [India], February 27 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Minister Dinesh Pratap Singh on Tuesday said that whichever candidate the Bharatiya Janata Party fields from the Raebareli constituency will receive his full support.
Dinesh Pratap Singh had earlier fought the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Raebareli constituency, where he was defeated by Congress leader Sonia Gandhi.
"Brothers and sisters of my Raebareli, whoever is sent by the leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party from Raebareli Lok Sabha with a lotus sign, I, with the people of Raebareli, will help him fight elections with all my heart, body, mind, and wealth. This is my resolve to make the lotus blossom. May Lord Shri Ram and the respected people of Raebareli support our resolve. Jai Shri Ram," Dinesh Pratap Singh said in a Facebook post.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Sonia Gandhi was elected unopposed to Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan last week.
Former Congress president Sonia Gandhi, who had represented the seat since 2004, informed voters of Raebareli that she would not contest the upcoming Lok Sabha polls due to health and age issues.
Saying that she would not seek a fresh term in the Lower House from the Congress stronghold in the upcoming polls, Sonia wrote on February 15, "My family in Delhi is incomplete without you. It becomes complete after visiting Rae Bareli--meeting you all. This relationship is very old and deep, which I have received from my in-laws' house as fortune."
Sonia was elected as an MP from Raebareli for the first time in 2004. Since then, the Congress leader has been representing the Congress stronghold in the Lower House. (ANI)
