New Delhi [India], January 1 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary Tarun Chugh on Wednesday lashed out at Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Chief Arvind Kejriwal over the 'Pujari Granthi Samman Yojna,' accusing him of neglecting them for 11 years.
Speaking to ANI, Chugh said, "AAP leader Kejriwal did not remember the priests and granthis for 11 years. He used to send money to clerics only for votes. Now when the public is removing him, he is remembering Sanatanis, Gurudwaras and temples. Where was he for 11 years?"
BJP leader Vijay Goel criticized Kejriwal, accusing him of aiming to win elections through the announcement of freebies.
"The announcements by Arvind Kejriwal are electoral announcements... The elections should be based on dirty tap water, Yamuna pollution, Delhi pollution, corruption... Arvind Kejriwal did not take any steps in the past 10 years and is now making new announcements each day... The one who doesn't work for 10 years only wants to win elections by announcement of freebies," Goel said.
On Tuesday, Delhi Congress president Devendra Yadav hit out at former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal after the announcement of 'Pujari Granthi Samman Yojna' and alleged that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener has been "exposed in front of the people of Delhi as the promises have not been fulfilled".
"Clerics haven't yet received their salaries. Senior citizens are looking for their pensions, employees have not received their ration cards, tap water is not clean, Yamuna is still polluted. Several schemes can be introduced but Kejriwal ji is fully exposed in front of the people of Delhi," Yadav said.
Kejriwal on Tuesday launched the registration for Pujari Granthi Samman Yojana. He visited the Shri Marghat Wale Baba Mandir at Kashmere Gate along with his wife Sunita Kejriwal to start the registration for the scheme.
Under this Scheme priests of temples and the 'granthis' of the Gurudwara will receive an honorarium of about Rs 18,000 per month. He said earlier that the scheme would be implemented if the AAP from the government wins in the upcoming polls in the national capital. (ANI)
