Chandigarh (Haryana) [India], January 31 (ANI): Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar slammed the INDIA bloc after the recent victory of the BJP in Chandigarh Mayor polls and said that when public opinion is not with you then why do you dream?
CM Khattar on Wednesday left for Kurukshetra on a local train for an event.
"When public opinion is not with you then why do you dream? Whenever BJP comes to any state, its ideas do not come out of people's minds easily," he said.
High drama was witnessed in the Chandigarh Mayoral poll results after the presiding officer declared eight votes of Congress and AAP councillors invalid, resulting in the victory of the BJP candidate Manoj Sonkar in the mayoral elections.
Chaos erupted on Tuesday with the Aam Aadmi Party and Congress alleging electoral "malpractices" by the BJP. On the other hand, the BJP said that the "victory" is yet another jolt for the INDIA bloc.
AAP termed the poll as "unconstitutional and illegal" and an act of "deshdroh" (treason).
BJP's Manoj Sonkar defeated AAP-Congress candidate Kuldeep Singh. He received 16 votes, while Singh got 12 votes. Eight votes were declared invalid.
Further, the Haryana CM said that the Assembly session will start on February 20 and the budget will mainly focus on the poor people.
"The Cabinet has recommended that the Haryana Assembly session will start on February 20. The Governor will decide on that. This time our budget will be in the interest of the poor. How can we be proactive and provide people with the benefits of our schemes? Attention is being given to making sports facilities accessible in villages," CM Khattar said.
Responding to the question over the Lok Sabha elections preparations, CM Manohar Lal Khattar said that today a meeting will be held in Delhi regarding the elections. (ANI)
