"What's the point of arresting me?": AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan questions his arrest

"I was at my residence, and when I was served a notice and summoned for questioning, then what's the point of arresting me?... Everything is in the court; I will say everything there," he told reporters at his residence today.

New Delhi [India], February 14 (ANI): After Rouse Avenue court in Delhi granted protection to Aam Aadmi Party MLA Amanatullah from any coercive action till February 24 on Thursday, he questioned his arrest, saying that he was not absconding or evading arrest as he was just at his residence.
"I was at my residence, and when I was served a notice and summoned for questioning, then what's the point of arresting me?... Everything is in the court; I will say everything there," he told reporters at his residence today.
An FIR was registered against Amanatullah Khan alleging that he obstructed a Delhi Police crime branch team that had gone into the area to arrest Shavej Khan, who was declared a Proclaimed Offender (PO) and allegedly wanted in a 2018 FIR registered at police station Jamia Nagar.
Just after talking to reporters, he left his residence to join the Delhi Police investigation.
The AAP MLA had moved for anticipatory bail before the Delhi Rouse Avenue Court in the new FIR. Special judge Jitendra Singh passed the order while hearing the anticipatory bail plea of the AAP leader. While passing the order, the court asked the police to interrogate under the CCTV camera.
Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court also issued a notice to the AAP leader on a plea filed by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED).
The ED challenged a trial court order that had ordered the release of Khan in a money laundering case connected to alleged irregularities in the recruitment process of the Delhi Waqf Board during his tenure as chairman.
Earlier today, Bharatiya Janata Party MP Manoj Tiwari also called the AAP leader a "criminal who is also a politician."
Urging for his cooperation in the investigation, the BJP MP told ANI, "Whenever there is a case against anyone, the first thing that happens is interrogation, but Amanatullah Khan ran away... The court has given him immunity till February 24. Now, he should cooperate with the police in the investigation... He is a criminal who is also a politician, unfortunately." (ANI)
