"What has he done for the state?": Tamil Nadu Minister Anitha Radhakrishnan slams TVK chief Vijay

Radhakrishnan mentioned that Vijay, as an actor who earns 200 to 300 crore rupees per film, has not done anything for the people. She stated that it is easy to question others without having done anything oneself. In contrast, she said the Chief Minister, MK Stalin, is taking all necessary steps to do good for the people.

Thoothukudi (Tamil Nadu) [India], September 14 (ANI): Tamil Nadu Fisheries and Fishermen Welfare Minister Anitha Radhakrishnan on Sunday slammed Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam chief and actor turned politician Vijay, asking whether he has done anything for the youth of the state.
Radhakrishnan mentioned that Vijay, as an actor who earns 200 to 300 crore rupees per film, has not done anything for the people. He stated that it is easy to question others without having done anything oneself. In contrast, he said the Chief Minister, MK Stalin, is taking all necessary steps to do good for the people.
"Has Vijay, to date, done any favours for the people of Tamil Nadu, its youth, its workers, or its fishermen?," Radhakrishnan told reporters.
Responding to a question about Vijay's criticism that the DMK has not fulfilled its election promises, Minister Radhakrishnan said that the central government is deliberately obstructing the fulfilment of these promises by withholding funds.
The Minister added that no matter how much the BJP government obstructs them, the Chief Minister is determined to fulfil the promises that were made, as their party and its members rely on the support of the people.
Anitha Radhakrishnan said they will not be able to shake the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). He expressed confidence that the DMK will win the 2026 elections and install its leader as Chief Minister.
He also compared TVK chief Vijay to former Tamil Nadu CM MG Ramachandran, saying M.G.R. was a man of the people who worked with both CN Annadurai and M Karunanidhi, who gave his earnings to the poor.
Earlier on Saturday, (TVK) Chief Vijay launched his state-wide campaign from Tiruchirappalli.
Vijay delivered a fiery speech questioning the ruling DMK over its 'unfulfilled' electoral promises mentioned in thier 2021 election manifesto.
Addressing a massive crowd, Vijay began his speech with a reference to tradition, saying, "In the olden days, before going to war, people would first visit their family deity for blessings. Similarly, before heading into an electoral battle, I wanted to meet and greet my people."
He emphasised the historical and political significance of Trichy, recalling that former Chief Minister CN Annadurai had decided to contest elections from here in 1956 and MG Ramachandran(Former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu) had conducted his maiden political conference in the city in 1974.
"Out of the 505 assurances they made, what has been implemented? Where is the Rs 3 reduction in diesel prices, the monthly electricity bill calculation, the waiver of student education loans, 40 per cent job reservation for women in government services, the restoration of the old pension scheme, and the filling of two lakh government vacancies?" he asked.
