Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], October 26 (ANI): Congress leader and general secretary in-charge of Madhya Pradesh Randeep Surjewala has reacted over the relationship with Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav saying they are fighting together against unemployment, corruption and inflation.
Surjewala made the remark in view of the differences with the SP in state assembly polls while addressing a press conference in Bhopal on Thursday.
"We keep talking, only then the equation is formed and sometimes the equation is not formed. But we are fighting together against unemployment, corruption and inflation," Surjewala said.
Meanwhile, the Congress leader also attacked Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan over his (Chouhan) announcement to waive off the electricity bill of poor people having connection of 1 KW saying not a single penny of bill of a consumer was waived off.
"A conspiracy was hatched against the poor consumers. All the three power distribution companies i.e. East Zone, West Zone and Central Zone power distribution companies have increased the load of about 80 to 90 percent of consumers from one kilowatt to 2 kilowatt. There are approximately about 20 lakh such consumers. This was done so that the poor families could not get the benefit of CM Chouhan's announcement," the congress leader alleged.
Meanwhile, Surjewala said, "Now Congress has promised that the electricity consumers of the state who consume up to 100 units will not have to pay any amount and also the electricity bill of consumers up to subsequent 200 units will be halved. The farmers who use motors up to 5 horsepower will not have to pay any electricity bill."
He further raised the question that out of 20 lakh poor consumers having connection up to one kilowatt, was even a single penny waived off for even one consumer?
Similarly, the Congress leader put up more questions for the state government, "Was the electricity connection load of consumers conspiratorially increased to two kilowatts before issuing orders to defer electricity bills of up to one kilowatt of consumers? Were lakhs of poor families of the state informed, or their consent taken, or their load assessed before increasing the load of their connections? Have these lakhs of poor families with two kilowatt connections been systematically excluded from the poverty line? Are all the announcements of the Shivraj government based on such deception and lies?".
Madhya Pradesh is one of the five states set to hold elections this year. The state is scheduled to undergo polls on November 17 and the counting of votes will take place on December 3. Voters will choose legislators from 230 Assembly constituencies. (ANI)
