Kurukshetra (Haryana) [India], September 30 (ANI): Congress MP Kumari Selja on Monday expressed confidence that her party will win the Haryana assembly elections. She said that Congress is fighting these elections with full confidence and "will win."
"Ask the poor, shopkeepers, the youth, and the middle class--every citizen is troubled today under the BJP rule. There is no reason to fear, Congress is contesting these elections with full confidence. We will win," Selja told ANI.
She also said people trust Congress, as for the past 10 years, BJP has only shown dreams to people.
"We work on the ground. For 10 years, BJP gave just hollow slogans to people. We have fought against their anti-people policies. Today, people trust Congress. If we look at the 10 years of BJP, they only showed dreams to people. They imposed a problem like Agniveer on the youth of the country. Injustice is being done to our armed forces...In Haryana, people were misled were every manner to get votes...Ask the poor, shopkeepers, the youth, and the middle class - every citizen is troubled today under the BJP rule," Selja told ANI.
Earlier today, Congress General Secretary K C Venugopal also said that the party will emerge victorious in the Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir Assembly polls.
"On October 8, Congress will sweep Haryana and J&K. There is a one-sided election in Haryana, people are with Congress here. On October 8, people will show how they treat PM Modi," Venugopal said.
Haryana will go to the polls on October 5 to elect its 90-member state legislative assembly, with counting set to take place on October 8. In the 2019 elections, the BJP emerged as the single-largest party, securing 40 seats, while Congress won 30 seats. The BJP is confident of forming the government in the state for third term. (ANI)
