New Delhi [India], June 8 (ANI): To review the results of the Lok Sabha elections and decide the future strategy, a meeting of all the councillors of the Aam Aadmi Party was held on Saturday. This was the first meeting after the elections, in which the senior leaders of the party decided to strengthen the organization at the grassroots level.
AAP National General Secretary (Organisation) Sandeep Pathak, AAP Delhi State Convenor Gopal Rai, AAP MCD in-Charge Durgesh Pathak, Mayor Dr Shelly Oberoi, Deputy Mayor Aaley Muhammad Iqbal, MCD Leader of House Mukesh Kumar Goel, and some MLAs were also present at the meeting.
Sharing the details of the discussions held at the meeting, Durgesh Pathak said that in the first meeting held with all the councillors of Delhi after the completion of the Lok Sabha elections, there was a discussion about the Lok Sabha election results.
"With the kind of mandate the people of the country have given, the people have certainly formed Modi Ji's government, but his pride has been completely shattered. Today, there is a discussion everywhere about how Narendra Modi and his government have been doing injustice to Delhi for the last 10 years. The Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and Health Minister have been put in jail. MP Sanjay Singh was also put in jail," he said.
Pathak said the Modi government is constantly playing games with the rights of Delhi.
"Despite the Supreme Court's order, the rights of the elected government were completely abolished by bringing an ordinance. We hope that the Prime Minister will learn a lesson from this mandate and return the rights to the people of Delhi," he added.
The MCD in-charge said the report on the ward-level elections was also discussed in the meeting. It was decided in the meeting that the party's organisation needs more strengthening at the grassroots level.
"Everyone decided that even though the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister, are still in jail, we will fight the ongoing battle to save the Constitution and democracy together with the people of Delhi," he said.
AAP was routed in Delhi in the recently concluded 2024 Lok Sabha elections. BJP won all 7 seats in Delhi, repeating its 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha results.
The BJP got 240 seats and NDA has secured 292 seats out of 543 Lok Sabha seats.
Congress fought the election as part of the INDIA bloc and the parties together were able to prevent the BJP from getting a majority on its own in the Lok Sabha.
The Congress secured 99 seats. The Samajwadi Party got 37 seats, while the Trinamool Congress got 29. DMK managed to win 22 seats. (ANI)
