New Delhi [India], November 25 (ANI): As the Congress leaders allege EVM hack conspiracy after the Mahayuti swept the 2024 general assembly elections in Maharashtra, Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) or NCP SP MP Supriya Sule on Monday said that they would need evidence to prove the same. She said that she would discuss the issue with Congress.
"I will speak with Congress. I am going to the INDIA alliance meeting now. We need some evidence for all this. We are working on it; we will do it," NCP SP Supriya Sule told ANI. Sule was in Delhi for the first winter session of Parliament.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said that he will also be going to Delhi in a few days to discuss the alleged Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) hack in Maharashtra assembly elections.
"G Parameshwara also commented on that (EVM hack). Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders are also commented. I am also going to Delhi in a few days. We will also discuss this; it is a part of national importance. The world is also looking at it. Let us all examine," DK Shivakumar told ANI.
This comes after Karnataka Home Minister and senior Congress leader G Parameshwara said his party leaders were surprised over the information they got about Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) being selectively "hacked."
Parameshwara, who is also the All India Congress Committee observer of Maharashtra elections, said that party leaders including former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel discussed the EVM issues and are going to appeal to the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Earlier, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) MP Sanjay Raut on Saturday had expressed concerns over the trends emerging from the counting of votes in Maharashtra for the recently held assembly elections, saying that they have done 'gadbad' to steal Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) seats. He said that such results are being imposed because this cannot be the decision of the people of Maharashtra.
"They have done some 'gadbad', they have stolen some of our seats. This cannot be the public's decision. Even the public does not agree with these results. Once the results are out, we will talk more. In every election seat, money-counting machines were installed. Is it possible that Shinde will get 60 seats, Ajit Pawar will get 40 seats and BJP will get 125 seats? The people of this state are not dishonest. We have their faith in the people of Maharashtra," Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut told mediapersons in Mumbai.
The results of the General Elections to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly were declared on Saturday, November 23. In the recent Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections, Mahayuti secured 230 seats out of the total 288 constituencies.
The BJP won 132 seats while its allies- the Shiv Sena, led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde won 57 seats, and the NCP, led by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, won 41 seats.
In contrast, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) suffered a rude jolt with Shiv Sena (UBT) led by Uddhav Thackeray winning 20 seats, Congress securing 16, and NCP(SP) led by Sharad Pawar managing just 10 seats. (ANI)
