Alipurduar (West Bengal) [India], November 13 (ANI): Amidst voting in the by-election for six assembly constituencies in West Bengal on Wednesday, BJP candidate for Madarihat, assembly constituency Rahul Lohar, said that the people in his constituency will answer the atrocities committed against women in this poll.
Voting began for by-elections for 31 assembly seats across 10 states, including six in West Bengal.
"The people of Madarihat have been blessing the BJP since 2014... I am confident that the people will give an answer to the corruption in government and atrocities committed against women in this by-election," said Lohar.
He reiterated that every voter from each family will cast their vote against the atrocities committed against women.
He said he would work towards women's security, elephant conflict, tourism, and healthcare facilities in the region after winning the polls.
When asked about the results, he exuded confidence in winning the by-elections. "We will win 100 per cent," he said.
Notably, the TMC has fielded Joy Prakash Toppo from this seat.
Earlier, Rahul Lohar casts his vote for the Madarihat assembly by-poll.

The by-election in Madarihat was necessitated following BJP leader Manoj Tigga's resignation after winning an Alipuarduar parliamentary seat from the BJP's ticket in the general election held earlier this year.
The by-elections in Taldangra, Sitai, Madarihat, Naihati, Medinipur, and Haroa assembly constituencies are underway, with results being declared on November 23. Expect Madarihat; all other seats were won by TMC in the 2021 assembly elections.
Meanwhile, voting for the first phase of the Jharkhand assembly elections began on Wednesday morning, with voting taking place in 43 out of the state's 81 seats. A voter turnout of 13.04 per cent was recorded till 9 am in the first phase of the Jharkhand Assembly Elections, as per the Election Commission of India. (ANI)
