Wayanad (Kerala) [India], November 4 (ANI): Congress candidate from Wayanad constituency for Lok Sabha by-polls, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday met and interacted with the students of Pazhassiraja College in Pulpally town of Wayanad.
People gathered in large numbers to take a selfie with the Congress leader who is campaigning for herself in the by polls.
Earlier today, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that her brother Rahul Gandhi undertook the Bharat Jodo Yatra for unity and peace, as people have become hopeless about the BJP's 'negative power' and propaganda.
"When many people believed that there was no hope left. And we all were wondering what to do. How are we going to fight this immense negative power of the BJP and the propaganda they were spreading? My brother decided to walk 4000km from Kanyakumari to Kashmir in the name of unity and peace," Priyanka Gandhi said while speaking at an election rally in Wayanad.
Priyanka Gandhi was also seen interacting with the voters of Wayanad during her election campaign.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday said that there are forces trying to "destroy" the Constitution.
Speaking at an election rally in Malappuram's Areekode in support of Congress' candidate Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, he also criticized the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government for failing to establish a proper medical college in the region, despite ongoing pressure from his party.
Gandhi, former MP from Wayanad, also took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that he failed to financially support the constituency when the tragedy hit. Recently, various villages in Wayanad districts suffered major landslides due to heavy downpours.
Wayanad, a Congress bastion, is going to see a contest between Congress's Priyanka Gandhi, BJP's Navya Haridas and the Left candidate Sathyan Mokeri in the upcoming bypolls. The bypoll in the constituency was necessitated as Rahul Gandhi decided to vacate the seat and keep the Rae Barel seat following his win from both seats in the general elections held earlier this year.
The by-election to Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency is scheduled to be held on November 13. (ANI)
