"Wanted to discuss Manipur, unemployment...": DMK MP Kanimozhi on special session of Parliament

After an all-party meeting concluded ahead of the special session of the Parliament, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) Deputy General Secretary Kanimozhi Karunanidhi said that there is no clarity on why this special session was called when the winter session will be called in November.

New Delhi [India], September 17 (ANI): After an all-party meeting concluded ahead of the special session of the Parliament, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) Deputy General Secretary Kanimozhi Karunanidhi said that there is no clarity on why this special session was called when the winter session will be called in November.
DMK MP Kanimozhi told ANI “We wanted to know why this special of Parliament was called. when the winter session will be called in November. There is no clarity on that. There was a strong emphasis on women's reservation bill to be passed in this session, we wanted Manipur to be discussed, Unemployment and many other issues. We wanted River water disputes in Tamil Nadu to be discussed too.”
An all-party meeting took place in the Parliament Library building, ahead of the Special Session of Parliament on Sunday. Union Minister Rajnath Singh and leaders of opposition parties attended the all-party meeting in the national capital.
“Two members are suspended Raghav Chaddha and Sanjay Singh, we wanted their suspension to revoke. They have also given us a list of bills which will be passed in three days of parliament, but still there is no clarity on what bills will be brought to the table,” Kanimozhi added.
The Special Session will be held from September 18 to 22.
The Special Session will see a discussion on Parliament’s 75-year journey, starting from the Samvidhan Sabha that first met on December 9, 1946.A discussion on 'Parliamentary Journey of 75 years starting from Samvidhan Sabha – Achievements, Experiences, Memories and Learnings' will be held in Parliament on the first day of the five-sitting long special session, a parliamentary bulletin said on Wednesday.
The announcement of the Special Session came as a surprise in political circles with the parties gearing up for assembly polls in five states later this year.
Earlier today, Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar hoisted the national flag at the new Parliament building a day before the commencement of the Special Session of Parliament.
The Special Session, starting on Monday will see parliamentary proceedings shift from the old to the adjacent new building. (ANI)
