Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], April 20 (ANI): Congress leader Shama Mohammed has urged Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna to initiate contempt proceedings against BJP MP Nishikant Dubey over his remarks pertaining to the judiciary, saying if appropriate action is not taken, other people can in the futureDubey’s remarks have drawn sharp criticism from opposition parties with the BJP also distancing itself from his remarks make similar attacks.

Dubey’s remarks have drawn sharp criticism from opposition parties with the BJP also distancing itself from his remarks.

"MP Nishikant Dubey is saying that whatever is happening in this country, like civil wars, is because of Sanjiv Khanna, the CJI. He said that the judiciary is inciting religious issues. Today, I want to ask CJI Sanjiv Khanna what action will be taken, whether there will be contempt of court. What action will you take against him? My leader, Rahul Gandhi, is saying all the time that the Constitution is in danger,” she told ANI.

She said the attack on the judiciary is an attack on the Constitution.

“Action will have to be taken against him (Dubey) soon. If you do not do it today, then tomorrow, many people will attack the judiciary or the justice system. BJP should also take action, and they should expel him from the party," she added.

Dubey kicked up a storm with his remarks on Saturday that "Chief Justice of India, Sanjiv Khanna is responsible for all the civil wars happening in this country".

“How can you give direction to the appointing authority? The President appoints the Chief Justice of India. The Parliament makes the law of this country. You will dictate that Parliament?... How did you make a new law? In which law is it written that the President has to take a decision within three months? This means that you want to take this country towards anarchy. When the Parliament sits, there will be a detailed discussion on this," Dubey told ANI in response to a query, referring to the Supreme Court verdict in case relating to decisions of Tamil Nadu Governor.

He also said Article 368 stated that Parliament has the authority to make all laws and the Supreme Court has the right to interpret the law.

Nadda distanced the BJP from Dubey’s remarks, and "completely rejected" them.

He said Bharatiya Janata Party has always respected the judiciary. (ANI)
