Patna (Bihar) [India], November 6 (ANI): Mahagathbandhan Chief Ministerial face and RJD's candidate from the Raghopur assembly constituency Tejashwi Yadav appealed to the people of Bihar to exercise their right to vote as the polling in the 121 constituencies in the first phase of the election began on Thursday.
Stressing that the "destiny of Bihar" depends on every vote, Tejashwi Yadav urged people to vote in the interest of "democracy, the constitution, and humanity"
Tejashwi Yadav also appealed to voters to support the Mahagathbandhan's candidate in order to change the "dilapidated" NDA government.
Taking to X, Tejashwi Yadav said, "Today is an important day for voting. The future destiny of Bihar will be determined by the single button you press. You need to vote in the interest of democracy, the constitution, and humanity."
"I want to appeal to all voters, especially the GEN-Z exercising their vote for the first time, to mothers and sisters, to traders, to farmers, to migrants living in other states, to every common citizen, to every student preparing for a job through coaching, to every patient undergoing treatment for their illnesses and their families, and to every eligible voter in Bihar, that you must vote, you must vote in all circumstances. Bihar's condition will be prosperous only when all of you exercise your vote," he added.
In a video message attached to the post, Tejashwi Yadav urged people to vote for a "corruption- and crime-free" Bihar.
"This is my appeal that everyone exercise their right to vote. I appeal to you to elect the Mahagathbandhan's candidate with a big majority and change this dilapidated government. Make Bihar a corruption and crime free state," he said.
"I appeal our brothers and sisters to make their family members aware that there's no employment, industry, IT parks, data center, agro-based industry and food-processing unit. People are migrating for employment, education and medicine," he added.
He also urged people to report any discrepancies on booth to the Election Commission officers.
Voting for the first phase of the 2025 assembly elections in Bihar began today at 7:00 am across 121 constituencies in 18 districts of the state, covering approximately 3.75 crore electors and 243 seats.
Polling will conclude at 6 pm, and due to security considerations, polling time has been curtailed to 5 pm in some constituencies.
Voting in Tejahswi Yadav's Raghopur constituency is also underway. The incumbent RJD MLA is facing a tough challenge from BJP's Satish Kumar Yadav, who previously lost to Tejashwi in the 2020 Assembly elections.
The incumbent MLA and leader of the opposition in the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, has been a dominant force in Raghopur. He won the seat in 2015 and 2020, defeating Satish Kumar Yadav on both occasions.
The entry of Chanchal Singh from the Jan Suraaj Party, led by Prashant Kishor, could alter the contest's dynamics. Singh's candidacy may draw votes away from both the NDA and Mahagathbandhan, making the outcome unpredictable.
Other senior leaders whose fate is to be decided today are BJP leaders Samrat Choudhary and Mangal Pandey and JD(U)'s Shravan Kumar, Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Anant Singh and Tej Pratap Yadav.
According to the Election Commission, there are 10.72 lakh 'new electors', and 7.78 lakh voters are in the age group of 18-19 years. The total population of these constituencies, as stated by the Election Commission, is 6.60 crore.
In the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, polling took place in three phases. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured 125 seats, while the opposition Mahagathbandhan (MGB) won 110.
Among the major parties, the Janata Dal (United) bagged 43 seats and the Congress 19. The JD(U) had contested 115 constituencies and the BJP 110, whereas the RJD contested 144 seats and the Congress 70. (ANI)
