Bhojpur (Bihar) [India], November 4 (ANI): Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor on Tuesday led a massive roadshow in Bihar's Bhojpur district, calling on voters to support his party as a "new option" for changing the state's governance system.
Addressing a public rally ahead of the Bihar polls, Kishor said, "There is a new option before the people of Bihar, Jan Suraaj. We appeal to the voters to vote for us to bring change to Bihar's system and governance.."
During his rally, Kishor also coined a slogan of "Jai Bihar".
Transitioning from his appeal for change to a direct political attack, Kishor took a dig at Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav, accusing him of making tall promises ahead of the Assembly polls.
"Tejashwi Yadav should tell us what he would do post-retirement. He is losing elections. He is saying anything," Kishor told ANI.
His remarks came shortly after Tejashwi Yadav reiterated his promise at a press conference that the Mahagathbandhan, if voted to power, would transfer ₹30,000 into the accounts of women under the proposed 'Mai Bahin Maan Yojana'. Kishor's counter came on the final day of campaigning for the first phase of Bihar's Assembly elections.
On Monday, Kishor asserted that the BJP will not return to power in the state.
During the election campaign in Siwan, Jan Suraaj's founder said, "The BJP government is going to go".
He also slammed RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, saying that it is the people of Bihar who will decide the next chief minister.
"The BJP government is going to go, but whether Lalu Yadav's son will become the CM will be decided by the people of Bihar. Lalu Yadav is not the king here who will make a decision, and that will only happen," he said.
Criticising both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Kishor said that national leaders visit Bihar only to attack each other, but rarely address key issues of the state, such as unemployment.
He said, "PM Modi and Rahul Gandhi have their own ways; these people come but never talk about Bihar. They will abuse each other in Bihar whenever they come here. Neither PM Modi nor Rahul Gandhi is talking about employment in Bihar."
In the run-up to the 2025 elections, Bihar is witnessing the main contest between the NDA, comprising of BJP, JD(U), HAMS, LJP (RV); and the and the Mahagathbandhan, comprising of RJD, Congress, VIP, and left parties.
Additionally, Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj has also staked claims on all 243 seats of the state. The assembly elections will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11. The results will be declared on November 14. (ANI)
