Faridabad (Haryana)[India], June 28 (ANI): Congress workers on Friday staged a protest outside BK Hospital here, where the body of Congress leader Vikas Chaudhary, who was shot dead, is kept.
While carrying placards condemning the Congress spokesperson's murder, the protesters chanted slogans demanding justice.
Among those protesting was Haryana Congress president Ashok Tanwar, who claimed that authorities are delaying the process of handing over Chaudhary's body, despite formalities having been completed.
"Yesterday evening, hospital authorities have informed us that all formalities were over. However, they haven't handed over the body to his family until now. We are demanding the authorities to hand over the body, but everyone is busy with the Chief Minister as he is here. We are peacefully asking for the body and they are not even allowing the patients to enter the hospital," he told ANI.
Further, Tanwar said, "Choudhary was murdered as the government failed to maintain law and order in the state. Had been a proper security system in the state, Choudhary wouldn't have been killed."
However, Faridabad Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Vikram Kapoor said certain formalities are pending, and upon completion of the same, the body will be handed over to the deceased's family.
"There are certain formalities that are yet to be completed. Once CMO completes the formalities, Vikas Choudhary's body will be handed over. The delay in releasing the body has nothing to do with the Chief Minister's visit to the area," he said.
Chaudhary was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Faridabad on Thursday morning while he was travelling in his car.
Congress President Rahul Gandhi, Randeep Singh Surjewala and other leaders condemned the killing and attacked the Khattar government, alleging that there is a complete failure of law and order in the state. (ANI)
