Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], August 7 (ANI): Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Monday said that it is the victory of truth after the Lok Sabha Secretariat restored the House membership of Rahul Gandhi today, adding that people want to hear Rahul Gandhi in the Lower House.
While speaking to ANI, Bhupesh Baghel said," Lok Sabha Secretariat restored his membership today. This is the victory of truth. People want to hear Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha. It's a huge victory for us."
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that BJP fears Rahul Gandhi's rising stature due to the success of the Bharat Jodo Yatra.
"A message has been sent to the entire country. This was a conspiracy carried out by the BJP leaders because they feared the success of Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra. The BJP has been exposed. If there's someone giving competition to PM Modi, then it is Rahul Gandhi," he said.
Soon after his reinstation, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi arrived in Parliament.
Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A) alliance leaders raised 'Rahul Gandhi Zindabad' slogans as they welcomed him to Parliament.
Upon reaching Parliament House, the Congress leader paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi.
The Supreme Court, in an interim order on Friday, stayed Gandhi's conviction in the criminal defamation case over the 'Modi surname' remark.
The apex court issued notices to the Gujarat government and the complainant in July on an appeal of the Congress leader challenging the Gujarat High Court order.
The Gujarat High Court, had, in its order earlier, declined to stay his conviction in the criminal defamation case in which Rahul was sentenced to two years in jail by the Surat court over the 'Modi surname' remark.
Lok Sabha Secretariat on Monday restored the membership of Rahul Gandhi after the Supreme Court on August 4 stayed his conviction in the ‘Modi’ surname remark case.
The Congress leader who was disqualified from the lower house in March 2023 was reinstated as the Wayanad MP. (ANI)
