New Delhi [India], February 9 (ANI): After BJP swept the Delhi Assembly polls by winning 48 seats, BJP leader and Chairperson of Delhi State Haj Committee, Kausar Jahan expressed her happiness and said that this was the victory of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's guarantee.
"This is the victory of PM Modi's guarantee, 'Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas'. This time, the public attacked Arvind Kejriwal's corruption. Everyone including women and youth expressed confidence in BJP's development and good governance model," Jahan told ANI.
BJP is set to form government in Delhi after securing a historic victory in the Assembly elections, winning 48 seats and marking its return to power in the national capital after 27 years.
The BJP leaders also termed the mandate as "historic" and hailed the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
BJP MP Manoj Tiwari told ANI, "Forming a government with 48 seats is historic. We thank the people of Delhi and we will now work for the betterment of Delhi. We will make Delhi a world-class capital city. "
BJP candidate Tarvinder Singh Marwah who defeated AAP candidate Manish Sisodia told ANI, "The public of Delhi has bestowed their trust on PM Modi's guarantees."
BJP leader Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said that the public of Delhi put their trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"The people of Delhi are celebrating Diwali and Holi together. The public of Delhi is getting freedom from 10 years of hell and they have bestowed their trust in PM Modi. As PM Modi said, we will work to make Delhi the 'Viksit Capital' of 'Viksit Bharat'."
BJP stormed to power in the Delhi polls on Saturday, winning a two-third majority, with the ruling AAP suffering major blows and a drastic reduction in its numbers in the 70-member Assembly. The Congress continued its dismal run.
Bharatiya Janata Party won 48 seats in a historic mandate, returning to power in the national capital after 27 years. Several AAP leaders, including former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, lost in their strongholds, with Chief Minister Atishi managing to retain her seat.
The verdict came months after the BJP-led coalition swept the Maharashtra polls and the party won Haryana, consolidating its domination of national politics.
The Congress, which was hoping for a revival in the national capital, again failed to win any seat. The party, which ruled Delhi for 15 consecutive years from 1998, registered a hat-trick zero tally in the Assembly polls in 2025.
AAP swept the polls in the last two Assembly elections, winning 62 out of 70 seats in 2020, and 67 seats in 2015. The counting of votes was taken up on Saturday morning, as votes were polled on February 5. (ANI)
