New Delhi [India], November 14 (ANI): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday hailed the National Democratic Alliance's performance in the Bihar Assembly elections, calling it a mandate for a "Developed Bihar" and asserting that voters had rejected "jungle raj" and appeasement politics.
Shah, in a post on X, said the results reflected the people's growing preference for performance-oriented governance and their trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
He praised BJP and NDA workers at all organisational levels for their efforts during the campaign.
"This is the victory of every Bihari who believes in a 'Developed Bihar.' Those who indulge in jungle-raj and appeasement politics--no matter what guise they come in--will not get the opportunity to loot. The public now gives its mandate solely on the basis of the politics of performance," Shah said.
Extending congratulations to the NDA leadership, he added, "I congratulate Shri @narendramodi, Shri @NitishKumar, and all the leaders and workers of the NDA. I also extend my greetings to all the workers of @BJP4Bihar, from the booth level to the state level, who realized this result through their tireless efforts."
Reassuring voters, particularly women, Shah said the NDA government would work with renewed commitment.
"I assure the people of Bihar--and especially our mothers and sisters--that the mandate you have given to the NDA with hope and trust will be fulfilled with even greater dedication by the NDA government under the leadership of Modi ji," he said.
Meanwhile, the NDA is heading towards setting a new milestone in the 2025 Bihar elections, as it has crossed the 195-mark in the latest trends.
The NDA's performance in Bihar can be attributed to the strong show by major parties like BJP and JD(U) with comprehensive support from Chirag Paswan's LJP(RV) and Upendra Kushwaha's Rashtriya Lok Morcha.
It's worth noting that Bihar recorded a historic 67.13% voter turnout, the highest since 1951, with women voters outpacing men (71.6% vs 62.8%).
According to the EC, as of now, the BJP has won 19, JDU 10, LJP(RV) 1 and HAM 1. The RJD has also won 4 seats, Congress 1 and AIMIM 2. (ANI)
