Viluppuram (Tamil Nadu) [India], July 5 (ANI): Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam exuded confidence over the NDA's victory in the upcoming Vikravandi bypoll, saying that "victory is bright for the NDA."
"Victory is bright for NDA in Vikravandi bypoll. Definitely, AIADMK votes will transfer to PMK, " said Panneerselvam.
Meanwhile, a National Democratic Alliance meeting was held on Thursday at Vikravandi to campaign ahead of the Vikravandi by-poll for the PMK candidate.
BJP State President Annamalai, pointing to the people, said they all got a good opportunity to elect a good MLA for the constituency.
"NDA Alliance has experienced, powerful, honest, and young leaders. NDA has all the leaders here sitting on the stage to recover Tamil Nadu from DMK capture," Annamalai said.
He also criticised DMK, alleging they were "distributing the money for the votes."
After facing a defeat in the recent Parliament election, the NDA alliance in Tamil Nadu is keen to open their account in the State with the Vikravandi bypoll.
NDA alliance leaders such as BJP State President Annamalai, PMK President Anbumani, AMMK General Secretary TTV Dhinakaran, AIADMK retrieve Committee Coordinator O Pannerselvam and others shared dias in Vikravandi have been seeking votes for NDA - PMK Vikravandi candidate C Anbumani.
TTV General Secretary Dhinakaran, while speaking on the stage, said, "Today AIADMK is in the wrong hands of those people who have selfish goals. I and my brother, O Pannerselvam, have the responsibility to retrieve the AIADMK again. I request cadres in Vikravandi to vote for the 'Mango' symbol in the bypoll".
O Pannerselvam highly criticised DMK, saying the government failed in law & order in the state.
"The DMK government failed to provide any welfare for the people. Law & Order is detroit in Tamil Nadu. Murders, drugs and illicit liquor are everywhere in our state. We don't have leaves but we have Mango with two leaves" O Pannerselvam said.
Pannerselvam also said, "AIADMK votes would transfer to PMK."
PMK President Anbumani Ramadoss, speaking on the stage, said, "Illicit tragedy is not just death, it is murder. Today, the Kallakurichi tragedy can repeat tomorrow in Vikravandi. Don't see parties, caste or anything. Just express your anger."
The Vikravandi bypoll is scheduled to be held on July 10. The constituency is facing its second by-election in the last five years. The constituency's caste composition is predominantly Vanniyars, followed by Dalits and other intermediate castes.(ANI)
