Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], November 11 (ANI): Calling the Jharkhand Assembly polls, a very "peculiar election", Bharatiya Janata Party leader Pratul Shahdeo said on Monday that the people of the state want to vote out the "most corrupt" government in the history of Jharkhand.
Speaking to ANI, Pratul Shahdeo also alleged that the Jharkhand government-led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren has let down the people of the state.
"This is a very peculiar election. More than the ruling alliance or us, the people of Jharkhand want to vote out the most corrupt government in the history of Jharkhand. The Hemant Soren government has disappointed them. He promised them 25 lakh jobs in five years, and stipends to graduates and post graduates, but nothing was delivered. Moreover, this government has huge scandals against its name, be it coal scam, stone scam and the latest age scam," he said.
He also asserted that the BJP will be very close to getting a majority in the first phase itself.
"People are fed up. We will be very close to the majority figure of 41 seats in the first phase," the BJP leader said.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday held a road show in Ranchi. He also held two rallies in Bokaro and Gumla, where he slammed Congress and its allies for "attempting to create a divide between SCs, STs, and OBCs."
He also said that Congress and its allies "can't see Adivasis on top," and have kept Jharkhand backward.
PM Modi, launching a scathing attack on the JMM and Congress alliance, during his rally in Bokaro, said, "BJP-led government is needed in Jharkhand to drive out infiltrators." He alleged that both Congress and JMM were attempting to create a divide between SCs, STs, and OBCs saying they enjoyed power by creating divisions.
"Everyone needs to stay alert and aware of the major conspiracy by JMM and Congress. They can do anything for power," he said.
Notably, Congress on Sunday lodged a complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI) against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing the party of posting a misleading advertisement on social media that contained false information about the leaders of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Indian National Congress (INC), and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).
Congress claimed that the advertisement violated the Model Code of Conduct and other electoral laws. It alleged that the leaders of JMM, INC, and RJD were being "portrayed in a negative and false light," with the intent of "propagating false and baseless narratives against them."
The elections for the 81-member Jharkhand Assembly are scheduled to take place in two phases on November 13 and 20, with the results to be counted on November 23. (ANI)
