Pune (Maharashtra) [India], November 23 (ANI): Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP leader Ajit Pawar's wife, Sunetra Pawar, on Saturday expressed her gratitude towards the people of Baramati for extending their support as NCP leader Ajit Pawar leads in the assembly constituency there.
Sunetra Pawar stated that today is a very fortunate day as the Mahayuti currently leads in the Maharashtra Assembly Polls, slamming the Maha Vikas Aghadi.
She said that the public in Baramati had given their actual verdict by voting for Ajit Pawar and that it was a victory for the people there.
"It is a very fortunate day for everyone: Ajit Dada, NCP, the public, and Baramati. The people of Baramati have given their actual verdict. I thank the people of Baramati for extending their support to Ajit Dada. This is the victory of the people of Baramati... The win is the win of the people...I want the same (Ajit Pawar to be CM) as the public wants... Let's see what happens," Sunetra Pawar said.
In the latest trends from the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections, the Mahayuti alliance has crossed the crucial majority mark, as per ECI data around 11:00 AM. It is securing a lead in 220 seats and is likely heading towards a landslide victory. Celebrations have already begun at the BJP's Mumbai office.
After the BJP-led Mahayuti surpassed the halfway mark in Maharashtra, celebrations began with sweets being brought to the BJP office in Mumbai
.As per the initial results, the Mahayuti alliance is leading in 220 seats, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leading in 128 seats, driving the charge in Maharashtra. The Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena (SHS) follows closely with 55 seats. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), led by Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, is leading in 35 seats, while the Rashtriya Yuva Swabhiman Party (RSHYVSWBHM) is leading in 2 seats.
Meanwhile, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) is trailing, with a lead in 51 seats. The Indian National Congress (INC), part of the MVA, is leading in 20 seats. The Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leading in 16 seats, and the Nationalist Congress Party - Sharadchandra Pawar (NCP-SP) is leading in 13 seats. The Samajwadi Party (SP) too is in the lead at 2 seats.
Earlier today, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut expressed concerns over the trends emerging from the counting of votes in Maharashtra for the recently held assembly elections, saying that they have done 'gadbad' to steal Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) seats. He said that such results are being imposed because this cannot be the decision of the people of Maharashtra.
Raut further questioned the number of seats NCP and Shinde's Shiv Sena were getting, saying that the public doesn't agree with these results."They have done some 'gadbad', they have stolen some of our seats. This cannot be the public's decision. Even the public does not agree with these results. Once the results are out, we will talk more. In every election seat, money-counting machines were installed. Is it possible that Shinde will get 60 seats, Ajit Pawar will get 40 seats and BJP will get 125 seats? The people of this state are not dishonest. We have their faith in the people of Maharashtra," Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut told media persons in Mumbai. (ANI)
