Valley woes: Prolonged rains, snowfall throw normal life out of gear in JK
Srinagar [India], Jan. 27 (ANI): In Jammu and Kashmir, the latest spell of rains and snowfall has thrown normal life out of gear, as the surface and air links remained suspended between the Valley and the rest of the country for the past three days. In view of the rain and snowfall at various places along Jammu-Srinagar national highway no traffic will be allowed on the road today. The travellers have been asked to contact Traffic Control Units at Srinagar, Ramban and Jammu and officers of Traffic wing to get the status of the road. The weather is likely to improve from today though Met department predicted light to moderate rains today across Valley and other areas. At least ten army soldiers were killed after two avalanches struck at Neeru village near Line of Control in Tulail tehsil of Gurez valley in North Kashmir's Bandipora district on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday. Four more soldiers are reported missing. Kashmir University has postponed all its exams till Sunday in view of the inclement weather. (ANI)
