Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], September 11 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday slammed the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, over his recent remarks on reservation, saying his statements 'expose anti-constitutional thinking'.
CM Dhami said that Rahul Gandhi has exposed the anti-constitutional thinking of the Congress and the INDIA alliance once again by talking about ending reservations from the country.
Rahul Gandhi, while interacting with students and faculty at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, had said that the Congress Party will think of scraping reservation when India becomes a 'fair place'.
In the same breath, CM Dhami went on to say he (Rahul Gandhi) has always worked to nurture divisive forces by going against the country and the countrymen. Dhami said that raising questions about India's strong image on foreign forums or supporting anti-national forces has become a habit of Rahul Gandhi.
Dhami further alleged that Rahul Gandhi is making a despicable attempt to play with the integrity of the country only due to his political selfishness and immense frustration towards Prime Minister Modi.
Rahul Gandhi, when asked about reservation during his conversation at Georgetown University, said that the Dalits, Adivasis and OBC communities are still not getting participation in the system, adding that India is not a 'fair place'.
"If you look at the Indian government, there are 70 bureaucrats who run the Indian government, secretaries to the government of India. These are the people who make almost all the financial decisions...Out of 70 people, there is one tribal, three Dalits, three OBCs and a minority. 90 per cent of India in the government of India has access to less than 10 per cent of the positions that determine how money is going to be spent. When you look at the financial numbers, then Tribals get 10 paise out of Rs 100, Dalits get Rs 5 out of Rs 100, and OBCs get a similar amount," the Congress leader said.
"The fact of the matter is they are not getting participation. The problem is 90 per cent of India is not able to play. We will think of scrapping reservations when India is a fair place and India is not a fair place. Now, that creates a problem. There are people from the upper caste who say 'What have we done wrong, why are we being punished'" he added.
Earlier CM Dhami, speaking to ANI, criticised Gandhi's remarks regarding Sikhs, accusing him of trying to harm India's culture.
Speaking to ANI, Dhami said, "Rahul Gandhi, whenever he speaks, speaks against the nation. His recent statement on Sikhs is an attempt to weaken their confidence. Sikhism was established by the great Gurus in India, and under Narendra Modi's rule, the whole of India is united. Rahul Gandhi is trying to raise doubts about the country's security apparatus."
"His language is no different from that of Pannu (a designated terrorist in India)," the CM said. (ANI)
