U.S. envoy to India bids personal farewell to PM Modi
New Delhi [India], Jan. 20 (ANI): Outgoing U.S. ambassador to India Richard Verma today met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "It was a pleasure to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi today on the last day of my tenure as U.S. Ambassador to India. We spoke about a range of issues, and the substantial progress we have made in the U.S.-India relationship over the past two years," said an official statement from the U.S. embassy. The statement said that the two sides discussed bilateral accomplishments in the area of clean energy, trade, defense, and people-to-people ties, as well as the broader benefits that our efforts have brought to the world. "We reflected on the Prime Minister's address to a joint session of Congress, President Obama's visit to India as Chief Guest at India's Republic Day celebrations, and agreed that the U.S.-India relationship is stronger than ever," it said. On Wednesday, outgoing U.S. President Barack Obama in a telephonic conversation with Prime Narendra Modi also expressed gratitude for the latter's support and contribution to the Indo-U.S. ties.
