UP: Woman allegedly gangraped, looted on highway near Jalaun
Jalaun (Uttar Pradesh) [India], May 7 (ANI): In yet another shocking case of sexual violence, a woman was allegedly gangraped and looted by eight unknown men while her husband was brutally beaten up and tied up in a deserted location near a highway. The incident came to light on May 4 when the woman approached the local authorities in Jalaun complaining of being assaulted and robbed by eight men. The victim was sent for medical examination immediately, while the police began investigating the case. The couple, who were travelling from Jaipur to Jalaun boarded a Bolero loading vehicle to Jalaun from Auraiya due to non-availability of any buses in the late hours of Thursday. The vehicle was stopped midway near a local liquor store, from where few other men boarded the vehicle. Hereafter, the perpetrators convinced the driver to halt at a deserted spot, where they committed the heinous crime. All the miscreants fled the spot immediately after committing the act. The victim's father-in-law was notified of the incident around 9 p.m., following which a complaint was filed and investigation was underway. According to Jalaun Superintendent of Police Swapnil Mamgai, eight suspects have been detained so far by the police and will be brought to the victim for identification. "Based on the complaints we received from the woman, we began our investigation and found a vehicle that matched the details of the sketches made on the available information. The woman's medical examination has been completed. Our investigation is still going on," he said. Further details from the investigation are awaited. (ANI)
