UP will set clock right by re-electing Congress: Surjewala
New Delhi [India], Jan. 4 (ANI): Expressing optimism, Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala on Wednesday said Uttar Pradesh has seen the falsehood perpetuated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and and now the politically crucial state will set the clock right by re-electing the grand old party. Surjewala told ANI that the Congress Party is competent, ready and willing to fight all the 403 seats on its own. "We have capacity and we have workers on the ground. We are working on all the seats. Rahul Gandhi has finished his Kisan Yatra a little while ago. We are certain that the people of Uttar Pradesh will finally have seen the falsehood perpetuated by Modi ji who said everything will change once he becomes Prime Minister and are really regretting having elected him from Uttar Pradesh i.e. Benaras and now are going to set the clock right by re-electing the Congress Party," he added. Welcoming the announcement of poll dates, the Congress spokesperson said this is a 'yajna' of democracy and the grand old party sincerely hopes that the Election Commission would ensure a free, fair and independent election. "We also hope that the use of muscle power, abuse of government power and misuse of money power will be checked once for all. That will be healthy and good for democracy," he added. The Election Commission earlier in the day announced seven-phase polling for 403 assembly constituencies in Uttar Pradesh. The counting of votes will take place on March 11. (ANI)
