UP Polls: Yadav family's 'badi bahu' pitches for 'choti bahu'
Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh),[India] Feb. 15 (ANI): Ruling out the rumours of rift within the Samajwadi cadre, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav's wife Dimple Yadav on Wednesday campaigned for her sister-in-law Aparna Yadav and urged the electorates to vote for the latter. Dimple while rallying in Lucknow asked the electorates to vote for Aparna. "Please vote for our contestant Aprna Yadav. Her victory is also Party's victory. Young leaders like her will change the fate of Uttar Pradesh," said Dimple. Further assuring good governance, Samajwadi Party candidate from Lucknow cantonment area Aparna Yadav took to the occasion and slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the demonetisation drive. "The Centre has disrupted the nation with demonetisation. They kept on commenting about rift in our family but today the elder daughter-in-law of the house has given her blessing to me which shows the love within our family," said Aparna. "The BJP promised good days, you yourself can see, what in real have they given, only problems," she added. Aprna Yadav is contesting from Lucknow cantonment assembly constituency and will be locking horns with Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) heavy weight Rita Bahuguna Joshi. Another prominent candidate in fray is Yogesh Dixit of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) who is leaving no stone unturned to woo the voters. In the last assembly election, Joshi won the seat for Congress by defeating BJP's Suresh Chandra Tewari by a margin of over 21,000 votes. The voter turnout in 2012 was 50.76 percent. Total electorate strength for this phase was 2,28,96,627. A total of 721 candidates were in fray, including 82 women candidates and one transgender from Lakhimpur district. Voter turnout was recorded to be 65.5 percent till 5 p.m. (ANI)
