UP Polls: BJP confident of win despite SP-Congress alliance
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], Jan. 18 (ANI): Taking on Congress-Samajawadi Party alliance in upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly polls, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday expressed confidence over sweeping the upcoming election in the state, adding that the alliance will not have an impact on the mindset of people. "People of Uttar Pradesh have seen enough of law and order situation with the Samajawadi Party, enough of corruption with Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and absolute mismanagement with the Congress Party. Therefore, the natural choice clear is the BJP. So, whether an alliance happens or does not happens, I don't think it will change the mindset of people of the state," BJP leader Shaina NC told ANI. She said it is absolutely clear that people of Uttar Pradesh want to vote for progressive government called BJP, irrespective of whether Samajwadi Party and Congress have an alliance or not. Putting all the speculations to an end, senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad yesterday said that his party would enter into an alliance with the Samajwadi Party for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls under the leadership of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav also confirmed that the party will lock itself in a pre-poll alliance with the Congress. Meanwhile, Sheila Dikshit, who was named as the chief ministerial candidate of Congress for Uttar Pradesh polls, withdrew her name stating that there cannot be two chief ministerial faces in case of an alliance in the politically crucial state.
