UP polls: 39 percent voter turnout recorded till 1 p.m.

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], Feb.23 (ANI): As the voting is underway for the fourth phase of Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, 39 percent voter turnout has been recorded till 1 p.m. on Thursday.

UP polls: 39 percent voter turnout recorded till 1 p.m.
Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], Feb.23 (ANI): As the voting is underway for the fourth phase of Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, 39 percent voter turnout has been recorded till 1 p.m. on Thursday. As of now, Rae Bareli recorded a voting of 45.39 percent. In the fourth phase, polling is going on in over 12 districts spread over 53 constituencies, including Bundelkhand and the Congress-dominant Rae Bareilly region. Other districts where polling is continuing in this phase are Pratapgarh, Kaushambi, Allahabad, Jalaun, Jhansi, Lalitpur, Mahoba, Banda, Hamirpur, Chitrakoot and Fatehpur. More than 680 candidates are contesting the elections, and around 1.84 crore people are expected to vote in the fourth phase. Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the smooth functioning of the polling process. Borders of districts have been put under surveillance and heavy deployment of forces for round the clock checking is made. The results will be announced on March 11. (ANI)
