Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], October 6 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister attended the "Transcon 2023" conference on blood transfusion technology at King George Medical College Lucknow on Friday and said that the conference will be a milestone for the Uttar Pradesh government, specialists working in the field of blood transfusion and all stakeholders.
Chief Minister Yogi awarded practitioners and researchers in the conference working for blood transfusion technology.
CM Yogi said "The 'Transcon 2023' conference will be a milestone for the Uttar Pradesh government, specialists working in the field of blood transfusion and all stakeholders. These conferences also play an important role in technology transfer and technology adoption."
"I am happy that the specialists working in this field are awarded, Both State and Centre governments are working to provide better health facilities for the 25 crore Uttar Pradesh population and to adopt new innovative technology across the world," He added.
He also talked about the lack of awareness about blood donation among people.
"We all know that there is a 20 per cent deficit in blood units, and the main reason is a lack of awareness about blood donation despite advancement in the field of blood transfusion technology. There was a time when a unit was only used to infuse a patient, nowadays due to separators which separate different components of blood, we can save many patients from one unit of blood,"
"We have not raised sufficient awareness about blood donation, there is the demand for 1.5 crore blood units, but we still lack 20-25 crore blood units," said CM Yogi.
One of the highlights of the event was the recognition of individuals who have made contributions to the field of voluntary blood donation.
Earlier in his inaugural address, UP Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra said that the workshop would enhance the medical knowledge of doctors and paramedical staff from across India while educating them about the importance of voluntary blood donation.
He expressed hope that discussions and knowledge exchange at the workshop would contribute to an increase in voluntary blood donation. (ANI)
