Union Minister Shekhawat challenges CM Gehlot for an open discussion on Rajasthan

“With this challenge, the public will clearly understand who is actually doing politics with the people of Rajasthan. Through the project of the Centre, thirteen districts get the guarantee of freedom from drinking water problems for forty years, while the Gehlot government is doing politics in this matter as well,” Shekhawat said.

Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], August 29 (ANI): Union Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Gajendra Singh Shekhawat challenged Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot to discuss Rajasthan on any open forum while discussing Central Government schemes for the poll-bound state.
Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat was addressing the media at Pushkar Ganahera in Rajasthan on Monday.
Rajasthan BJP leader also lashed out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on the issue of Galwan and said that he should look on his own before accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central Government.
“When the country's soldiers were fighting with China in the Galwan Valley, with whom was Rahul Gandhi cheating? Rahul should look at his family history before accusing anyone. Rahul Gandhi should first see under what circumstances he signed an MoU when the Congress was weak and donated money from China to the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation. Rahul Gandhi should look on his own before accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the central government,” Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said.
While targeting Gehlot further on the ERCP project, Shekhawat said “CM Ashok Gehlot is fulfilling his ambitions by ignoring thirteen districts regarding the ERCP project. By doing this, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has committed the sin of playing with the lives of more than 3 crore population of East Rajasthan.”
Notably, the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP) aims to harvest surplus water available during the rainy season in rivers in southern Rajasthan such as Chambal and its tributaries including Kunnu, Parvati, Kalisindh and use this water in the south-eastern districts of the state where there is a scarcity of water for drinking and irrigation.
Politics in Rajasthan has intensified as the legislative assembly elections in the state are scheduled to be held later this year
In 2018 the Congress won 99 seats while the BJP won 73 seats in the 200-member house. The Congress led by Ashok Gehlot formed the government with the support of Independents and the BSP. (ANI)
