Porbandar (Gujarat) [India], May 5 (ANI): Union Minister and BJP candidate from Porbandar, Mansukh Mandaviya, held a door-to-door campaign in the Dhorajee area of the constituency on Sunday.
He distributed voter slips and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's message during the door-to-door campaign.
"I am first a party worker and a candidate after that. We are distributing slips and PM Narendra Modi's message in the door-to-door campaign. All these people are part of PM Modi's family. All my party workers have been engaged in this activity for the last three days," Mandaviya said.
Before becoming a Rajya Sabha member, Mandaviya was elected as an MLA from the Palitana assembly seat of Bhavnagar in 2002. He was first elected in Rajya Sabha in 2012 and re-elected in 2018.
Congress' Lalit Vasoya, a former MLA who belongs to the Patidar community, is pitted against Mandaviya in the battle for the Porbandar Lok Sabha seat.
A total of 12 candidates are in the fray for the Porbandar Lok Sabha seat and around 17,94,000 voters will decide their fate.
Voting for 25 out of 26 seats in Gujarat is set to take place in the third phase of the ongoing general elections on May 7.
However, voting will not take place in Surat as BJP candidate Mukesh Dalal was declared unopposed after the nomination of Congress' Nilesh Kumbhani was rejected, and other candidates withdrew from the contest.
The election results will be announced on June 4. (ANI)
