Doda (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], September 11 (ANI): Terming Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's US remarks 'irresponsible', Union Minister Kishan Reddy on Wednesday called Leader of Opposition (LoP) 'childish' for making statements against India, its constitution, the elections, and Prime Minister.
Speaking to ANI, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy said, "Rahul Gandhi is an irresponsible person and a person with a childish intellect. Even after so many years, he does not understand what our country is?"
"PM Narendra Modi went abroad and held a meeting of the Indian community in which lakhs of people were present but never spoke about the politics of India or the political parties of India," said Reddy.
Adding further, Reddy said, "PM Modi is making efforts to increase the image of India and to bring investment in India. But Rahul Gandhi, with a childish intellect, goes abroad and gives speeches against India, against the constitution, against elections and against the Prime Minister."
Rahul Gandhi's recent remarks in the US have sparked a major political row with BJP's leaders alleging him of 'defaming India'.
Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Wednesday also continued the attack, saying that the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha is 'with the anti-national forces.
Giriaj Singh accused Gandhi of supporting Umar Khalid, who was arrested under UAPA over his alleged role in the Delhi riots of 2020, and Ilahn Omar, a US lawmaker known for her critical stance on India.
Singh further accused Gandhi of 'abusing' the nation on foreign soil and demanded action against him.
"Rahul Gandhi abuses the country, the PM, and democracy. It is now time that action should be taken--his membership (Parliament) should be taken," he said.
Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje also criticised Rahul Gandhi over his statements.
"Rahul Gandhi is the leader of the opposition inside the Parliament, he is not the leader of the opposition of India. Outside the country, we are one. Why does he not understand this? What does he intend to do by defaming India...Is there any conspiracy against the country? We will not tolerate this," Karandlaje said.
Earlier, Maharashtra CM Eknath Sindhe alleged that Gandhi "defames the country."
"Whenever LoP Rahul Gandhi goes out, he defames the country, the people, and the Prime Minister. I condemn this. His anti-reservation face has been revealed. This is an insult to the constitution given by Baba Saheb," Sindhe said.
Rahul Gandhi came under massive heat after he made remarks on the BJP, Sikh community and reservation while he was addressing the Indian diaspora in the US.
Gandhi, who arrived in Dallas in September 8, also interacted with students and teachers at the University of Texas.(ANI)
